South Sound Connection (SSC) LIVE 005 is our first show with dual guests: For Part A we met with Chrystal Hart-Meeker from Xtreme Grafx in Albany, Oregon talks about their "Save Albany Now" efforts to shine a light on local businesses in their community. She discusses how local business owners must share what they need with their community so that the members can help them survive and thrive. By purchasing swag from the Save Albany Now website, you can designate which local businesses you want to support. $15 from every purchase goes directly to the businesses involved with the effort. Their work has extended to Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, and the broader Save Local Now. Xtreme Grafx provides printing and promotional items for local businesses. South Sound Connection (SSC) goes LIVE every Tuesday at 9am PST on Facebook, LinkedIn, and The DYOJO YouTube. This week we will be speaking with Tacoma Comedy Club, which due to the pandemic orders has had to rebrand to Tacoma Burger Company and has also added Grit City Breakfast. Following the SSC LIVE show, the first 40 people to visit Grit City Breakfast, located within what we all know as Tacoma Comedy Club, and to mention "South Sound Connection" will receive a FREE breakfast burrito. Like many local businesses, it was one thing to survive the first round of shutdowns. The second announcement that live entertainment venues would be closed throughout the state was crippling for the local fixture following their final shows of 2020 with comedian Pauly Shore. Owner Adam Norwest was interviewed in July and commented in The News Tribune, “On Wednesday we were a business, and on Thursday, we became criminals with one statement." South Sound Connection (SSC) LIVE was created as a partnership between The DYOJO Podcast and All American Restoration Services (AARES) to highlight local entrepreneurs, businesses, and community efforts. So far the duo has released three live video events including:
Facing reality, Adam and his team decided to pivot their business and expand the services of their existing kitchen. In August, Tacoma Comedy Club became Tacoma Burger Company. The News Tribune noted, "The club has a full kitchen and regularly serves a small, rotating menu of burgers, sandwiches and desserts. Previous patrons will recognize a few favorites at Tacoma Burger Company, such as the peanut butter bacon cheeseburger and the Bleu Buffalo salad with grilled, not fried, chicken." Watch South Sound Connection (SSC) LIVE and then get your butt over to Grit City Breakfast, aka Tacoma Burger Company, aka Tacoma Comedy Club. The first 40 people to mention "South Sound Connection" will receive a FREE breakfast burrito sponsored in partnership with:

We are trying something new to help get the word out about local businesses, entrepreneurs and community leaders in the Pacific Northwest. We call it South Sound Connection (SSC) presented by The DYOJO and All American Restoration Services (AARES - Tacoma, WA). We aired Episode 001 live on Facebook and YouTube and plan to do these once a week. South Sound Connection Episode 001 Our first guest was Korbett Mosesly (Tacoma, WA), joined Jon Isaacson (The DYOJO) and Bryan Close (AARES) to discuss the creation of his game Success Factors. Mr. Mosesly designed this game to help parents teach their teenagers about economics. This idea flows from his experience working in both the non-profit and government sectors on a broad range of issues including adult education, housing, and workforce development. Korbett was inspired by the passing of Nipsey Hussle to finally his idea, that started with his MyPlan Workbook, into production. The game board is professionally designed and the gameplay has been parent tested and teenager approved for both fun and education. This is the perfect gift for a family with young people in the home so that the family can spend some quality time while learning sound financial principles. What is Success Factors? Success Factors is a two to six player game about investing in your community. You earn money as your token travels through the board, with the overall goal being to have the most philanthropic investments and wealth at the end of the game. There are lots of life-lessons to talk about: getting an education, exploring different careers, using good money management skills, and making healthy life-decisions. We also all know that things will happen along the way - both challenges and opportunities. Success Factors Teaches:
Where can you purchase Success Factors? Get a copy of Success Factors for yourself or your family and friends with teenagers from Tacoma Publishing.
